Monday Magick / Moon Magick

Full Moon Blessing Rite

The Full Moon Blessing Rite is a time-honored ritual designed to harness the potent energies of the full moon for spiritual cleansing, empowerment, and renewal. This rite is suitable for practitioners of all experience levels and can be adapted to suit your personal path.

To begin, gather the following items, each chosen for their symbolic and energetic properties:

A clear glass bowl, which will serve as the vessel for your moon water and act as a focal point for lunar energy.

One liter of spring water, representing purity and the flow of spiritual energy.

Silver paint, which is used to inscribe a sacred symbol on the bowl, connecting your ritual to the moon’s silvery light.

A sprig of jasmine, known for its associations with love, psychic awareness, and spiritual attraction.

A moonstone, a crystal revered for its connection to lunar cycles, intuition, and feminine energy.

Two white altar candles, symbolizing clarity, protection, and the illumination of the moon.

Gardenia incense and oil, chosen for their purifying and uplifting qualities.

A small paintbrush for inscribing the symbol, and any additional altar tools you feel drawn to include, such as a chalice, athame, or bell.

Begin by using the silver paint and paintbrush to inscribe a moon glyph or symbol of your choice on the outside bottom of the glass bowl. This symbol acts as a conduit for lunar energy, so select one that resonates with your intention—such as a crescent moon, triple goddess, or astrological glyph.

Next, prepare your altar in a location where the light of the full moon will shine directly upon it. This may be a windowsill, balcony, or outdoor space. Arrange your items thoughtfully, creating a harmonious and inviting space for the ritual.

Pour the spring water into the bowl, allowing it to rest in the moonlight. Place the bowl at the center of your altar, surrounded by the other ritual items.

When you are ready, cast your magick circle according to your tradition. This step creates a sacred, protected space for your work. Once the circle is cast, light the two white altar candles, focusing on their gentle glow as you recite the following invocation:

Lady, I now invite thee here

As the mother of sacred Earth,

Whose power is beyond compare

When dreams are given birth.

Take the moonstone and the sprig of jasmine in your hands, holding them as offerings. With sincerity and focus, speak this blessing to invite the presence and guidance of the lunar goddess:

Lady of desire, reflection of light

You are my motion, direction, and second sight.

Mother of creation, the original source,

You are potential, power, the ultimate force.

Grandmother of time, wise one from above,

I summon thee here with honor and love.

Gently place the moonstone and jasmine into the bowl of water, symbolizing the union of earth and moon energies. Take a moment to visualize the water being charged with radiant lunar power.

Carefully lift the bowl in both hands, holding it up as an offering to the moon. Speak the following words, allowing your voice to carry your intention:

I call the brilliant evening star,

The virgin of celestial light.

The gracious goddess from afar,

Great mother of second sight.

Glorious queen of the twilight hour

Wise and vigilant protector,

Thou whose silent power

Is regal and most splendor.

I beckon thee to now descend

Great mystery behind the veil

She who rises time and again

The keeper of the grail.

Set the bowl back on the altar, allowing it to continue absorbing the moon’s energy.

Anoint your forehead with a single drop of the moon-charged water. This act symbolizes the blessing and illumination of your mind, spirit, and psychic senses.

When you feel the ritual is complete, extinguish the candles with gratitude. Take up your magick circle, releasing the sacred space.

Place the bowl in a window or another spot where the moonlight will continue to shine on it throughout the night. This ensures the water is fully infused with lunar energy.

Just before sunrise, return to your altar. Remove the jasmine and moonstone from the bowl. The moonstone can be kept with your other magickal tools, serving as a talisman of lunar power and intuition.

Pour the moon-blessed water into a bottle with a secure lid, sealing in the energy you have gathered.

Take the jasmine to a nearby river, lake, or natural body of water. As you release it into the current, make a heartfelt wish or offer a prayer of thanks, symbolizing the return of your intentions to the flow of nature.

The moon water you have created can now be used to bless and consecrate your magick circle, or as a substitute for oil when anointing candles and other ritual objects. Its energy will support your spiritual work, offering clarity, protection, and renewal whenever you need it.

Through this rite, you have attuned yourself to the cycles of the moon and the mysteries of the goddess, deepening your connection to the rhythms of nature and your own inner wisdom.
