Blessed New Moon

Human experience is often shaped by our psychological state, which can sometimes overshadow our connection to the natural elements that form the foundation of our existence. When this connection is diminished, the potential within the human system may also be reduced.

The physical body is composed of the five elements of nature: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Space. Among these, the Earth element is the most stable and forms the core of our physical being. It serves as the foundation upon which the other elements build.

In addition to the Earth, both the Sun and the Moon play important roles in shaping our lives. The Moon, for example, not only exerts a gravitational influence but also helps maintain the Earth’s orbit around the Sun. The lunar cycles are closely linked to life on Earth, and the New Moon is traditionally viewed as a time for new beginnings.

The upcoming New Moon in September, which occurs on the 14th or 15th depending on location, takes place in the Earth sign of Virgo. This lunar phase encourages a renewed focus on the Earth element, reminding us that our physical form originates from the Earth itself.

The human body can be seen as an extension of the Earth. When the connection to this source is weakened, the body may lose some of its natural organization and stability. While survival is possible without conscious connection to the Earth, certain capabilities and potentials may be diminished.

The New Moon in Virgo presents an opportunity to strengthen the presence of the Earth element within ourselves.

There are several approaches that may help foster this connection:

  • Touching the Earth:

— Direct contact with the Earth, such as placing hands or bare feet on soil, plants, or trees, may help harmonize physiological processes. Spending a few minutes each day in a garden or natural setting can be a simple way to connect with the Earth element.

  • Earthing:

— Lying on the ground after getting wet, with the body stretched out and face down, may enhance the body’s connection to the Earth. Moisture can improve the body’s electrical conductivity, potentially energizing the system.

  • Barefoot New Moon Walks:

— Walking barefoot, especially during the New Moon and the two days preceding it, may deepen the connection to the Earth. During this time, the Moon’s gravitational pull aligns with the Earth, which may enhance this experience. If going outside is not possible, walking barefoot indoors or sitting cross-legged on the floor can also be beneficial.

  • Foot Embed:

— For those with access to a garden, placing feet in a shallow hole in the earth and covering them for 30 to 40 minutes may offer a unique way to connect with the Earth element.

  • Mindful Eating:

— Recognizing that food is a direct product of the Earth can foster a sense of connection. Being mindful of this relationship while eating may help reinforce the understanding that the Earth is an integral part of our physical existence.

  • Meditation on the Earth Element:

— The Earth element is associated with the Root chakra, located at the base of the spine. Meditating on this chakra may promote grounding and stability. Crystals such as black tourmaline, black agate, emerald, garnet, hematite, mookaite, jasper, tree agate, moss agate, and green jade can be incorporated into meditation. Setting intentions related to grounding, centering, protection, strength, and abundance during the New Moon may also be supportive.

Maintaining a connection with the Earth can be beneficial for health, well-being, and spiritual practice. The New Moon offers an opportunity to consciously strengthen this relationship, encouraging greater involvement with the planet that sustains us all.
