So, apparently, solitary Pagans are just people “hiding behind their PCs and mobile phones.”
Perhaps we should consider why some people choose to practise privately or interact mainly online. Some may live with anxiety, agoraphobia, or other difficulties that make social situations challenging. Others may simply prefer solitude—which, rather inconveniently, is the whole point of being a solitary Pagan.
But perhaps understanding people is too much trouble.
Maybe it is far easier to sneer at them and declare that “they’re not the real deal” or that they “don’t deserve to be called Pagan.”
After all, nothing demonstrates spiritual wisdom quite like appointing yourself the authority on who is and isn’t Pagan.
And I suppose dismissing people you know absolutely nothing about might make you feel terribly big, clever and important.
It doesn’t make you any of those things.
It just makes the gatekeeping painfully obvious.
