In ancient pagan communities, the elders—often called the wise ones—possessed a deep awareness of custom and a strong understanding of what had worked in the past when seeking to influence Mother Nature and other mysterious forces.
Their experience gave them access to special knowledge and power that ordinary people did not have.
The ancients noticed that words spoken with intention and in accordance with tradition seemed to have a greater effect than words spoken impulsively.
As a result, their words carried more power, while the same words spoken by those without understanding did not yield the same results.
There are three important aspects to consider when reciting a spell.
First, words spoken with intensity and passion possess a unique power.
Second, the speaker themselves holds energy and power, which can be developed and used effectively with practice.
Third, the forces and powers that exist beyond the human realm are called upon, directed, or used for a specific purpose—and these too hold tremendous power.
When all three of these elements are combined, the result is a truly powerful spell.
There are several kinds of spells, each requiring a different approach.
