Traditions matter.
History matters.
Folklore matters.
Teachers can matter.
Books certainly matter.
But if you choose the path of the Solitary Pagan Witch, eventually you have to discover what happens when there is nobody beside you telling you what comes next.
That can initially feel uncomfortable.
It can also be wonderfully liberating.
You learn.
You experiment.
You make mistakes.
You change your mind.
You abandon practices that mean nothing to you and discover others that unexpectedly become important.
Slowly, something begins to emerge.
Your Craft.
Not somebody else’s Witchcraft copied word for word.
Not Witchcraft performed simply because a book told you this was how witches behaved.
Something personal, living and constantly changing.
And perhaps that is one of the deepest lessons the solitary path can offer.
Do not try to trap the wind.
Learn to notice when it begins to blow.
