The Solitary Pagan Witch and the Unpredictable Nature of Magick 8 Why Solitary Practice Can Be So Powerful

This is where solitary practice becomes particularly interesting.

A coven naturally requires structure. If several people are performing a ritual together, everyone needs to know what they are doing.

The solitary witch has considerably more freedom.

If you planned to perform a ritual at midnight but suddenly feel drawn to walk into the garden at ten o’clock, you can.

If you intended to use candles but suddenly feel that darkness is more appropriate, nobody is going to stop you.

If you planned an elaborate ritual but eventually find yourself sitting beneath a tree doing absolutely nothing except listening, that may become the most meaningful part of your evening.

There is nobody standing beside you saying:

“That isn’t how it is supposed to be done.”

The solitary witch can respond directly to the moment.

That freedom is one of the great strengths of solitary practice.
